A redraw of Gypsy Woman, which was made June 27, 2008.

My style has improved greatly, and as it has, so did the feeling of the piece. Gypsy Woman was always supposed to be, in a way, me. As I have grown, so has she. I don't really know if the pieces are comparable, but I redrew her to the best of my abilities.

The newer version looks great. I love the wind in the hair and the dress and the overall body shape. Well done.
I do think though, that it would have been a lot better to draw the caravan in the newer version too. Without it, I don't feel the same sort of connection to her life as I do in the 2008 version.

I know exactly what you mean with the caravan. And don't get me wrong, I did try to add a caravan. But it was awful. My skills with caravans have not improved much over the years and I felt that it seriously detracted from the piece. I will likely edit it to include the caravan eventually. When my skills with such things have improved.

Ah okay I see :) Keep practicing on your backgrounds. It might be a good idea to make sure you draw a background for each piece you do, so you improve your background skills at the same time you improve your character skills perhaps?

I completely agree. Most of the pieces I don't post, it's because I don't like the background and don't want to post it until I'm satisfied.
